Over the last 30 years or so, America has endured a seemingly endless attack on our cherished national holidays. Christmas is normally the main target with an attempt to both strip the Christian context out of the season as well as an attempt to fracture the holiday with “disrupt than dismantle” styled attacks by inventing new ethnically based holidays to replace a significant part of our societal culture. Thanksgiving, of course, is now the holiday of the occupiers of indigenous lands and the entire month of June overshadows Father’s Day with a rainbow draped celebration of the attempt to replace heteronormativity with anything that falls within the category of LGBTQ++.
But there is one nationally recognized holiday that the progressives of today are seeking to enhance instead of replace: Labor Day.
