A blogger slammed LifeNews last week for linking pro-abortion billionaire George Soros to the opposition to U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

“The Catholic Working Mom” blogger JoAnna Wahlund claimed their piece highlighting Soros’s donations to groups opposing Kavanaugh was nothing more than an “untruthful hit piece” and “yellow journalism.”

She based her claims on her assumption that Soros donated hundreds of millions of dollars this year to efforts to oppose Kavanaugh – something LifeNews never claimed. She also claimed the article suggested Soros made the donations for “the direct purpose of smearing Brett Kavanaugh.” Again, LifeNews never claimed that.

The LifeNews piece highlighted how Soros has donated hundreds of millions of dollars to pro-abortion groups in the past several years and how these same group are leading the charge to stop Kavanaugh’s confirmation. Nothing in Wahlund’s blog refuted these facts.

Nor is LifeNews alone in reporting the connections. Two weeks ago, The Washington Times described how Soros’s “fingerprints are all over” the opposition to Kavanaugh. Fox News host Laura Ingraham similarly highlighted the links last week.

The evidence is strong that Soros has and continues to fund groups leading the opposition to Kavanaugh.

In June, the Daily Caller discovered Demand Justice, “a new political advocacy group that vowed to put $5 million behind an effort to stop … Kavanaugh’s confirmation” and “has significant ties” to Soros.

The Washington Times reported another tie to the pro-abortion billionaire: “Debra Katz, the attorney representing Kavanaugh’s accuser — Christine Blasey Ford — is vice chair of the Project on Government Oversight, an organization that has been directly funded by Soros’ Open Society Foundation.”

Then, late last week, MoveOn.org, another pro-abortion group backed heavily by Soros, sent out a fundraising letter for U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly after he announced that he would vote against Kavanaugh’s confirmation, Breitbart reports. Donnelly, a swing vote Democrat, is up for re-election.

Over the weekend, Politico reported MoveOn and other liberal groups are spending money on a “last-minute push to stop Kavanaugh” as well.

All this is in addition to extensive research by the Media Research Center, which documented massive donations from Soros to pro-abortion groups between 2000 and 2014. According to the MRC research, Soros donated more than $246 million, but the total likely is much higher now. Soros gave money to Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, the Center for Reproductive Rights, the Women’s March and other groups that are strongly opposing Kavanaugh.

The Center for Responsive Politics lists more recent donations from Soros to Planned Parenthood. In 2016, his Soros Fund Management gave $1.5 million to the abortion giant. In 2018, the Win Justice PAC (which is primarily funded by Sorosgave Planned Parenthood $301,500.

Exactly why Soros gave the donations, we may never know. Maybe he did give money to directly stop Kavanaugh’s confirmation, or maybe not. But we do know this. Soros is a strong supporter of abortion on demand. And pro-abortion groups have labeled Kavanaugh a “serious threat” to “women’s right” to abortion.

Wahlund’s accusations have no basis in facts or evidence. As LifeNews and numerous other reputable sources have reported, Soros has close ties to the groups attacking Kavanaugh. And his donations to pro-abortion causes have been widely reported by conservative and liberal media outlets alike.
